CHARLESTON, W.Va. - 18 players saw the field for the No. 12 ranked University of Charleston men's soccer team as they easily dispatched West Virginia Conference opponent Shepherd 6-0, Wednesday evening at Schoenbaum Stadium.
Dan Walmsley (Manchester, England ) got the onslaught started as he charged from his defensive back position to collect a rebound from just inside the 18-yard box, which he struck with a powerful right-foot to find the net for the 1-0 lead. Despite holding a shooting advantage of 8-1 at halftime the Walmsley goal was all Charleston managed in the opening stanza.
Using a slew of players the Golden Eagle offense found its groove after halftime as they completely buried Shepherd under their offensive power. Four players recorded goals as Charleston never allowed SU any chance to get back in the game with a 23-3 shot advantage after the break.

Garret Listo (Cincinnati, OH ) took a long pass from the
Ceth Locklear (Magnolia, TX ) on the wing and powered past two defenders to net a shot into the bottom corner of the goal. Fresh into the game
Lewis Osborne (Wakefield, England) found an easy look for his first career goal as
Adam Hintz (Sharon, Canada ) layed a perfect pass just behind the Shepherd defense, which Osborne finished off with a one-time touch.
UC took nearly 30 minutes off before
Rob Vincent (Liverpool, England ) and
Jules Gabbiadini (York, England) displayed nearly perfect passing ability for a fast-break goal. Vincent sent the ball into the zone to a posted Gabbiadini who send a pin-point pass through the Ram defense to within 10 yards of the goal where Vincent hit a strike between the posts for the 4-0 lead.
Gabbiadini played tough through the final clicks of the clock to record the final two tallies on the day for his third and fourth career goals.
Bijan Dastgheib (St. Albans, WV ) and
Alexander Martinez-Gallardo (Vancouver, Canada) were each credited with an assist on the game closing goals to set the score at 6-0.
For the evening the nationally ranked Golden Eagles held a 31-4 shot advantage in the decisive victory.
Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH ) managed two saves in the game, while
James Bailey (Frederick, MD) came on to seal the victory and book a save as well.
Charleston takes to the road for their next contest at WVIAC opponent Ohio Valley on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1:30 pm.
