CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Two of the top teams in the Atlantic Region faced off Sunday afternoon at Schoenbaum Stadium, but neither team was able to find the net as the University of Charleston men's soccer team registered a scoreless tie with Mercyhurst.
The Lakers held a slight 13-11 edge in shots, yet it was the No. 9 ranked Golden Eagles that saw the best chances at the net on the afternoon. UC maintained possession for much of the contest constantly playing the ball into MU's zone. Charleston found a tough task in getting clean looks with Mercyhurst playing 10 players back for most of the game to create a tough day for the powerful Golden Eagle offense.
Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH ) did his part in goal for UC making three highlight reel saves en route to collecting eight stops in the game.
In the physical contest there was 26 total fouls (13 for each team) with four players receiving yellow cards.
Charleston stays undeafeated as they move to 7-0-3 entering another tough contest on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 pm against West Virginia Conference championship contender and No. 25 ranked Davis & Elkins.
