National Statistics Rankings
CHARLESTON, W.Va. - After completing a 9-2 campaign in 2012 the University of Charleston football team found themselves ranked No. 25 in the final regular season AFCA Coaches Poll, Monday evening.
Charleston featured the third-best defense in NCAA Division II, while
Jordan Roberts (Madison, WV) ranked as the No. 5 rusher per game for the offense as the Golden Eagles finished second in the West Virginia Conference standings.
Jeff Green (Johnson City, TN) led the WVIAC in sacks per game at 1.10, which also landed him a No. 10 ranking nationally. As a team the University of Charleston ranked sixth in NCAA Division II at 3.18 per game.
UC was victorious in six of their final seven games, yet finished just outside of the NCAA Division II playoff picture despite playing one of the toughest schedules in the region. The season is the second since Charleston added football in 2003 where the Golden Eagles have finished with a 9-2 overall record along with a national ranking.
