Volleyball Takes Care of Concord 3-0

ATHENS, W. Va. – The University of Charleston volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory over West Virginia Conference opponent Concord Tuesday evening by scores of 28-26, 25-13, 25-16.

In the win, Katharine Furlong (Sedona, AZ) posted a match-high 15 kills while Victoria Severo (Meadville, PA) chipped in 11. Kelsey Eby (Portland, OR) totaled a match-best 34 assists to go along with three aces.Ashley Douglas (Amherstburg, Canada) guided the defense with 14 digs. Brenna Youlton had five total blocks for the Golden Eagles.

Concord recored 15 kills to Charleston's 13 in the opening set yet the visitors managed to hold on for a 28-26 set win which set up the rest of the match. UC dominated from the opening serve of set two to run away to the 25-13 win after hitting with 43 percent accuracy. The Mountain Lions offered little opposition again in the final set as the Golden Eagles forced five errors, while hitting 38 percent to secure the conference win.

The University of Charleston gets a quick rest before hosting conference opponent Bluefield State on Wednesday, Nov. 7 for a 7:00 pm contest.
