Men's Tennis Advances to Tournament Semifinals

Charleston 5, Concord 1

CHARLESTON, W. Va. – Charleston downed Concord in a 5-1 hard fought match in the final quarterfinal contest of the day at the WVIAC men’s tennis championship, Friday evening.

In doubles action, UC jumped out to a 2-1 lead with victories at No. 2 and No. 3. Matt Sherba and Ryan Williams garnered an 8-4 win at No. 2 while Kyle Barett and Gabe Seymour had an 8-6 win at No. 3. The Mountain Lions’ Diogo Monterio and Leo Araujo posted a 9-8 (8) victory at the top spot over Sam Humphrey and Dennis Okoth.

Okoth claimed the No. 3 victory in singles action with a 6-3, 6-2 win over Andrew Iruthayarajah. Barrett amassed a 6-3, 7-5 victory at No. 4 over Felix Riba while Rico Williams’ 6-2, 6-2 win propelled the Golden Eagles to the overall win.
