PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The No. 25 ranked University of Charleston men's soccer team found themselves in unfamiliar territory as Philadelphia University outshot the Golden Eagles 23-16 in a season opening 1-1 draw, Thursday evening.
The Golden Eagles (0-0-1) took a 1-0 advantage in the 32nd minute on
Renan Ramos' (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) first career goal. Ramos buried a shot from the penalty area after getting a centering pass from
Nathan Schmitt (Muskegon, MI).
Philadelphia got on the scoreboard in the 62nd minute when Ishmaiah Calwrie found the back of the net from the penalty area by slipping the ball into the lower right corner of the net to deadlock the game a 1-1.
The single goal score held up despite multiple looks on goal by Charleston down the stretch including a 25-yard blast by
Brett Elliott (Newcastle, England) that narrowly missed slipping under the crossbar for the game winner with just over a minute remaining in the first overtime.

Sean Teepen (Cincinnati, OH ) made 10 saves in the contest, six coming in the second half. The Rams outshot UC, 23-16.
