CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The University of Charleston Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and the Department of Athletic Marketing has announced the implementation of the Eagles Nest Student Rewards Program for the 2012-13 school year.
The program, which kicks off at Wednesday evening’s women's volleyball game versus Urbana, rewards UC students for their attendance at NCAA sponsored intercollegiate athletic events. The Eagles Nest program tracks student’s attendance at home events by scanning their student ID and is open for all registered University of Charleston students to enroll. The cost to join the Eagles Nest club is only $5.00, which provides members with exclusive access to Eagles Nest events, a membership tshirt and inclusion in the student rewards points system.
At home events, the members will have their student identification card scanned and earn the designated points for attending that specific game. The points are accumulated and are then redeemable for free gifts as a reward for their support of the athletics programs.
"We are very excited to begin the Eagles Nest Student Rewards Program this semester,” said William McDaniel, Charleston's Director of Athletic Marketing and Communication. “This program is designed to increase attendance at our athletic events, increase spirit and instill a campus-wide pride for Charleston athletic programs. With the rewards package it is a win-win situation for everyone.”
Students will have their ID cards scanned beginning an hour before the game and up to 30 minutes after the scheduled start time. Attendance at men’s soccer, men’s basketball and baseball games students will earn one point. Students who attend softball, volleyball and women’s basketball games will earn two points.
The Eagles Nest Student Rewards program will offer prizes ranging from Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwiches, Nike t-shirts, movie theatre certificates, UC travel mugs and other great prizes. A design contest (cash prize) for the official Eagles Nest tshirt will begin immediately and run through Sept. 26 with the unveil of the winner during the Homcoming football game on Oct. 6.
The top five point earners for the year will be entered into a drawing for the Grand Prize, which is to be announced on homecoming weekend. Four-runners up will also received top-tier prize packages as a thank you for their support during the school year.

Official Eagles Nest Tshirt Design Contest Rules
1.) One-Color screen printing will apply to winning design
2.) Must not alter or manipulate any official University of Charleston logo or wordmark included in design
3.) All entries consent to use of their design for official Eagles Nest publications, releases and print material
4.) Designs must be submitted no later than midnight on Sept. 26, 2012
5.) The winning designer must be available to attend the Oct. 6 football contest from 2pm-4pm
