ATHENS, W.Va. - The No. 11 ranked University of Charleston men's soccer team outshot host Concord 23-1 as the Golden Eagles dominated in a 3-0 WVIAC victory, Tuesday evening.
Concord (2-6-1) held off an extremely aggressive UC (4-0-2) offensive onslaught in the opening half as the visitors controlled the ball for the majority of the time, which led to a 10-0 Golden Eagle advantage in shots yet none were able to put points on the board.
Three-time All-American Rob Vincent was the first to find the net in the 58th minute, but it wouldn't be the final tally in the scorebook as Concord's defense eventually collapsed under the constant pressure.
Garrett Listo and Renan Ramos added to the lead for UC in the 69th and 83rd minutes to secure Charleston's third West Virginia Conference victory of the season. Vincent added to his season point total with an assist on the Ramos goal.
Golden Eagle keeper Sean Teepen saw the Mountain Lions only pull the trigger on one shot, yet faced no attempts on goal for his second-consecutive conference shutout.
UC now returns to Schoenbuam Stadium for a big regional matchup against Bloomsburg (5-3) on Friday, Sept. 28 at 7:00 pm.
