BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. -- D.J. Mendenhall (Urbana), Kenneth Ridley (Charleston), D'Gary Wallace (Urbana) and Ryan Earls (Shepherd) have been named Mountain East Conference Players of the Week.
Mendenhall was named Offensive Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Kenneth Ridley and D'Gary Wallace share the Defensive Player of the Week honors, and Ryan Earls was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Mendenhall, a senior from West Jefferson, Ohio, threw for 387 yards and three touchdowns against the nation's top-ranked passing defense in Concord last week. He completed 22-of-38 passes in a 22-12 victory over the Mountain Lions. He broked the school record with a 98-yard pass completion and added 19 yards rushing to push him over 400 yards of total offense for the second time this season.
Ridley, a senior corner from Hillside, N.J., had a team-high six tackles to lead UC to a 17-10 victory over Glenville State on Saturday. He had two tackles for a loss, including a sack, forced a fumble, a interception, and broke up a pair of passes for the Golden Eagles.
Wallace, a sophomore linebacker from Dayton, Ohio, racked up nine tackles, including 1.5 for a loss, in a 22-10 win over Concord. He also came up with two interceptions in the fourth quarter to preserve the win over the Mountain Lions.
Earls, a sophomore kicker from Stevensville, Md., matched a Shepherd school record with four field goals in a win over UVa-Wise. He connected on field goals from 24, 35, 36 and 29 yards out against the Cavs. He was also 3-for-3 on PATs and had a pair of touchbacks.
