Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Lewis Osborne scored two goals on a cold, damp evening at Schoenbaum Stadium to help Charleston cruise to a 3-0 win over the Cardinals from Wheeling Jesuit Wednesday evening.
UC finally broke through the Cardinal defense in the 43rd minute when Osborne took a pass from Brett Elliott on the edge of the 18, moved the ball to his left foot and powered a shot past a diving Cardinal keeper to give Charleston a 1-0 lead just before halftime. Osborne didn't waste any time scoring his second goal of the night after getting a rebound from a PK taken by Conor Branson that didn't beat the keeper but found its way to Osborne who buried the second opportunity. UC took the 2-0 advantage at the 50th minute mark of the second half.
The goal of the night came in the 71st minute when Augusto Maciel stood over a free kick from around 30 yards out and blasted a shot over the Cardinal and dipped into the top left corner to seal the 3-0 victory for the Golden Eagles.
Charleston still sits just behind Notre Dame in the Mountain East standings and will face WV Wesleyan this Saturday in Buckhannon.
