Box Score 2 Charleston, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles would take the first two games in a four-game weekend series against Bluefield State yesterday at Appalachian Power Park, winning 8-4 and 10-2.
Alec Austin would throw all seven innings for Charleston (15-19, 12-11 WVIAC) in the 8-4 game one win. Alec would give up just six hits on the four runs scored by the Blues. UC would carry a 5-1 lead going into the fourth when Bluefield would make some noise, bringing three Blues across the plate to trim the lead to 5-4. Charleston would answer on some mistakes by the Blues to score one in the fourth and two in the fifth to extend the lead to 8-4, which would be the final tally at the end of the game and a Golden Eagle win.
Ryan Foster would go 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI for UC, continuing to swing a hot bat in the leadoff role.
Tyler Itnyre would drive in two on a double in his 1-for-3 outing.
Tyler Shreve would pick up his fourth win in as many outings getting the 10-2 win over Bluefield State. Tyler would go five innings, giving up two runs on five hits while striking out three Blues for the afternoon. Charleston would trail 2-1 early on, but would score nine unanswered runs to get the 10-2 victory.
Ryan Foster had a similar stat line from game one, going 2-for-4 with a double drove in two RBI’s.
John Schraer would go 2-for-3 for the Golden Eagles from his shortstop position, driving in one. Freshman
Anthony Brunetti would get his first HR of his UC career picking up two RBI’s in the process.
UC completes the 4-game series with Bluefield State Sunday at Triana Field with first pitch set for 1pm. Currently Charleston sits in third place in the WVIAC South Division behind WV State and Concord.
