Top-seeded Bluefield State registered a 5-0 victory over No. 2 Charleston to claim the WVIAC Tournament Championship, along with the top spot in the region.
The Big Blues jumped out to a 3-0 lead with superb play in doubles. Playing as the No. 1 tandem, Jacob Carey and Piotr Kruk notched an 8-3 victory while Vishwesh Sinha and Shikhar Kapur teamed up for an 8-2 win at the No. 2 spot. Niklas Sparr and Vlad Catlan overcame a late deficit, rallying for a 9-7 victory at the No. 3 position.
Conner Pickering recorded a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 6 slot, giving BSC a 4-0 lead. Vlad Catlan clinched the championship by notching a 6-0, 6-2 win at the No. 4 position.
The Big Blues and Golden Eagles will both play in the NCAA Tournament. The region pairings will be released later this week.
