Box Score 2 Bluefield, W.Va. - Charleston's Abby Nicholas would throw a five inning perfect game in game one of the sweep of Bluefield State Tuesday en route to 15-0 and 14-3 WVIAC wins.
GAME ONE
UC would score 15 runs on 12 hits in the first game of the doubleheader against the Blues, also taking advantage of seven errors by Bluefield State to win the shortened 5-inning game 15-0.
Abby Nicholas would start in place of usual starter Courtney Fain and make the most of her call to the circle. Nicholas would face the
minimum number of batters in her five perfect innings of work, retiring 15 straight with five putouts coming by way of strikeout. Charleston would be led by three RBI's from Carlin followed by LeFrancois, Vazquez and Santos who each drove in two.
GAME TWO
Charleston would again run rule the host Blues in game two, winning by a score of 14-3. UC would score their 14 runs on 12 hits helped by miscues by the Blues defense who committed six errors, making 13 in the two-game series.
Resting Morgan Aguirre, junior Angel Withrow would toe the rubber for the Golden Eagles and pitch well in the victory, giving up just three runs in her four innings of work. Charleston got two homeruns in game two, one each from Butt and LeFrancois, to pace the UC offense.
UC improves to 23-18 on the season and 14-6 in WVIAC play. The Golden Eagles hit the road again Wednesday in a make-up doubleheader against Concord before returning home for doubleheaders against Glenville and Ohio Valley Saturday and Sunday.
