Softball to Begin WVIAC Tournament Thursday

PRINCETON, W. Va. – Seedings for the 2013 WVIAC Softball Tournament came down to the final day of the regular season, but everything is finalized for this week’s tournament, which takes place May 2-4 in Vienna, W. Va.

Fairmont State claimed the top spot in the upcoming tournament. The Yellow Jackets of West Virginia State picked up the No. 2 seed. Charleston garnered the No. 3 position while West Virginia Wesleyan earned the No. 4 slot.

Glenville State is the No. 5 seed while Shepherd comes in as the No. 6 position. Alderson-Broaddus earned the No. 7 spot by picking up two wins Monday afternoon. Wheeling Jesuit rounds out the field as the No. 8 seed.

The tournament is a double-elimination format, with play beginning May 2 and the championship game slated for May 4.

The Yellow Jackets and Battlers begin the competition with a 10 a.m. contest while Charleston and Shepherd also square off at 10 a.m. Fairmont State and Wheeling Jesuit tangle at 12 p.m. while the Bobcats and Pioneers also meet at 12 p.m.
