Box Score VIENNA, W. Va. – Charleston's run in WVIAC Softball Tournament cut short with a 4-2 loss to West Virginia Weslayan in an elimination game.
The Bobcats opened the game with a 2-0 lead thanks to Jacqui Omichinski. After Carleigh Hall reached on an error, Omichinski blasted a two-run homer to left center. WVWC increased the lead to 3-0 in the second when Taylor’s bunt single allowed Megan Malenstyn to score.
The Bobcats made it 4-0 with a run in the third. Omichinski got on base thanks to an error. After swiping second, she eventually crossed home.
The Golden Eagles fought back, cutting the deficit to two, 4-2, with two runs in the fourth.
Kayln Butt singled to center and
Kendal LeFrancois blasted a two-run round-tripper.
UC threatened in the sixth, loading the bases with one away, but could not produce any runs.
Omichinski earned the win while
Morgan Aguirre took the loss.
Charleston finished the 2013 season with a 29-21 overall record and a third place regular season finish in the last season of the WVIAC.
