Box Score Erie, Pa. - The University of Charleston would take a tough overtime loss to #4 Mercyhurst University Sunday, closing out their trip to Erie with a 2-1 defeat after defeating Gannon on Friday.

In a rematch from last year's second round of the NCAA Tournament, Charleston would post the first score on the afternoon in the 31st minute when Jules Gabbiadini (York, England) would take a feed from Augusto Maciel (Sao Paulo, Brazil) to beat the Laker keeper, giving the Golden Eagles a 1-0 lead.

Mercyhurst would answer quickly, just three minutes following the UC goal a well placed header would beat Fabian Veit (Dielheim, Germany) to even the score at 1-1.  That would be the score the teams would take into the locker room at after 45 minutes of first half action.

Although Mercyhurst would create more chances for the game, Veit would turn away all of the second half Laker shots to force overtime as the score remained 1-1 after 90 minutes.  However, it didn't take the Lakers long to earn the overtime win as they would put one in the back of the net just 45 seconds into the extra frame.

Mercyhurst and Charleston each go to 1-1 on the young 2013 season.  The Golden Eagles will make their 2013 season home debut on Wednesday as they host former WVIAC opponent Alderson Broaddus at 7pm.  The match will be played at Schoenbaum Stadium in Coonskin Park.
