HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The UC Men's Tennis team found themselves facing some adversity and needing to find another level to go to on Tuesday afternoon against Dickinson College. Luckily, they found it just in the nick of time, to pull out a win 7-2 that featured several close matches.

UC opened a three point lead after sweeping all doubles positions. James Gammell and Dennis Okoth prevailed 8-1 at the first doubles position while Davey Nelson and Matt Sherba won at the second doubles position 8-3, reeling off five straight games after being tied at 3-3 early in the set. At second singles, James Gammell rallied after being down a set to Clark Chapman to win in a third set super tiebreaker 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. After a sore shoulder forced Dennis Okoth out of his normal third singles spot, Gabe Seymour stepped in for Charleston but fell 6-0, 6-1. Jake Lorenz was able to come back after a poor 1
st set to win at fourth singles in a super tiebreaker 1-6, 6-0, 10-4. At the fifth position, Nick Bakos continued his steady play and turned in a victory 6-1, 6-3. At sixth singles, Verun Shah fell 6-4, 6-3.

The win puts Charleston's record at 3-4 for the season, with a match on Wednesday looming against Tiffin College. "This was a good match for us. We struggled on a few courts, but this is the kind of match we need to play because teams will be gunning for us as the preseason pick to win the conference," said James Gammell following the match.
