Box Score 2 CHARLESTON, W.Va. - After taking two games from the Pioneers the previous day, Charleston split today's doubleheader with Glenville to take three games out of the four game series.
GAME ONE
The Golden Eagles broke a scoreless tie in the second inning after Tyler Itnyre was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to take the 1-0 lead, but left the bases loaded to end the inning. Glenville scored two runs in the third to capture the lead then followed up with a four-run fourth to extend their lead to 6-1. UC rallied in the fourth and fifth innings to make it a two-run game but came up short in the comeback, falling 6-4.
Tyler Shreve worked all seven innings for the Golden Eagles in the loss. Although six runs were scored only two were earned. Itnyre went 1-for-2 with two RBI's in a losing effort.
GAME TWO
Charleston scored early to give starter Patrick Chiaramonte the run support he had been looking for all season. The Golden Eagles scored in four of the six innings, pushing eight runs across for the 8-2 win. Ryan Foster continued his monster weekend, driving in three more RBI's to end the series with nine runs batted in. Timmy Rein and Tyler Itnyre each drove in two for the Golden Eagles in the win.
Chiaramonte got the win for UC going the complete game, giving up two runs on six hits.
Charleston's record now stands at 14-17 overall and 10-17 in Mountain East games. UC hits the field again Wednesday as they travel to Wise, Va. to take on the Cavaliers in a midweek doubleheader.
