CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Second-seeded West Virginia Wesleyan knocked off the top-seeded University of Charleston, 5-3, to claim the 2014 Mountain East Conference men's tennis tournament championship.

The Bobcats got out to an early lead winning two of the three doubles matches. UC's duo of Matt Sherba and Davey Nelson managed a 8-6 win in No. 2 doubles to provide the point for the Golden Eagles.

In singles, WVWC's Joel Izquierdo downed Charleston's Sherba, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 1 singles to get the Bobcats off to a strong start. James Gammell picked up a win at No. 2 singles for UC, as did Nelson at No. 6 singles. However, West Virginia Wesleyan's Jacobo Rendon and Nathan Savill won at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively, to secure the win for the Bobcats.
