Box Score SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. - The Golden Eagles continued their success in their first game on the road with a 6-2 win against Slippery Rock Wednesday afternoon.
Â
Charleston struck first in the 19th minute when Michael Hagarty slipped a ball across the box for a one time finish by Augusto Maciel, his third goal in two games. Shortly after, freshmen Felipe Antonio took a cross from Leighton Richards and buried the ball in the back of the net making it 2-0. To finish off the half, Lewis Osborne scored in the very last second for a "buzzer beater" goal as he dribbled passed a defender and beat Slippery Rock's goalkeeper to put UC up 3-0 at the half.
Â
Osborne followed his goal up to start the second half with an assist to Jules Gabbiadini in the 51st minute. Gabbiadini fished Osborne's cross with a perfectly placed header beating the keeper to his left side. With a 4-0 lead, Slippery Rock found a lapse in UC's defense and got on the score sheet from a good run of play and finish by Peter Boylan. Not long after they struck again as Stephen Donnelly received a good through ball from Josh Allman only to beat UC keeper Justin Bryant. With a score of 4-2, freshmen Kevin Fuecht put his seal on the match when he put away a free kick in the top corner to put the golden eagles up 5-2. To finish off the game, UC capitalized on a bad back pass by SRU for a final score of 6-2. This puts #8 UC at 3-0-0 on the season and ready to open up conference play. Goalkeeper Justin Bryant earned four saves on the night and earn his first win of the season.
