Box Score CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The University of Charleston Men's Soccer team were on a roll again defeating Wheeling Jesuit 5-0 tonight for another Mountain East Conference win.
The Golden Eagles struck first and early as
Augusto Maciel (Sao Paulo, Brazil) found the back of the net with a powerful strike just eight minutes into the match. UC continued to possess the ball but couldn't quite get the edge on Wheeling's goalkeeper Cody Thompson who finished with six saves on the night. Charleston continued to push however, and in the 31st minute,
Conor Branson (Pontefract, England) found
Will Roberts (Denbigh, Wales) who smoothly dribbled past three defenders and buried the ball in the back of the net. Shortly before halftime,
Felipe Rafael Antonio (Sao Paulo, Brazil) added another goal for UC making it 3-0 going into halftime.
The second half seemed to start off in the UC fashion as
Jules Gabbiadini (York, England) hit the post just minutes in. However, Roberts stole the show for the night as he added two more goals making it a hat trick on the night. Three goals tonight puts Roberts at eight for the season and leading goal scorer for Charleston.
UC is back in action this weekend at Seton Hill University. Charleston moved to 7-0-0 and 4-0-0 in the MEC.
