Box Score GREENSBURG, PA.- The #3 University of Charleston Men's Soccer team continued its success in a 5-1 win over Seton Hill University putting the Golden Eagles at 8-0-0 on the season.
Â
UC opened the match with a lot of possession but struggled to find their opening goal. It wasn't until captain
Conor Branson (Pontefract, England) opened up the scoring as he struck a shot leaving the Griffins goalkeeper frozen and finding the back of the net. Just five minutes later,
Renan Ramos (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) capitalized on Seton Hill's defensive error and put Charleston up 2-0. With just minutes before halftime, freshmen
Kevin Feucht (Schwetzingen, Germany) added another stellar free-kick goal to his season putting UC at a comfortable 3-0 lead going into halftime.
Â
The second half started off a bit shaky for the Golden Eagles as the Griffins exploited the UC defense with a quick restart and a finish by Rory McKinnon that beat UC's goalkeeper
Fabian Veit (Dielheim, Germany) to his near post. Charleston was up for the challenge though as Branson found his second goal of the match on a corner kick from
Will Roberts (Denbigh, Wales) that Feucht flicked on to the back post in which Branson calmly headed in. With a 4-1 lead,
Augusto Maciel (Sao Paulo, Brazil) sealed the deal for UC dribbling past the Griffins and making the match 5-1.Â
Â
The non-conference regional result adds to the Golden Eagles impressive campaign. Charleston is back in action when they host Concord University on Wednesday, October 1
st, at 7pm for a Mountain East Conference matchup.
