Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Defense Prevails Again in Golden Eagles Victory

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - All five starters managed double-digit scoring performances for the University of Charleston Men's Basketball team as they defeated Notre Dame College, 82-66.

Charleston runs their winning streak to three games for the second time this season.  Previous high of four games was snapped earlier this month.  UC now has won seven of the last eight games.

For the Golden Eagles, Senior Chris Evans led with 18 points connecting on 7-of-11 field goals.  Jevonte Hughes continued to be a presence inside as he pieced together his second double-double in three games with 15 points and 15 rebounds. Junior's Tino DiTrapano and Aleksander Kesic both had 12 points on the night with Ditrapano adding a team high four assists. Rounding off the starters in double-digit efforts was sophomore Cameron Dozier with 11 points, adding six rebounds, three assists, and connecting on all four free throws.

Heading in to the match-up Notre Dame featured two players in Tyree Gaiter and Lawrence DeArmond averaging 44-points combined per contest. With Charleston focus yet again being on points-per-possession they were held to 27 combined with DeArmond having a game high 22 points and Gaiter being held to 2-of-12 from the field.

With the victory UC moves to 11-4 overall on the season and 6-3 in MEC play.  The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday Jan. 17th as they travel to Wise, Virginia and face UVA-Wise with tip-off slated for 4pm.
