Charleston, W.Va. -Â The University of Charleston Women's Volleyball team defeated West Virginia State Tuesday evening in three sets. The scores were 25-17, 25-21, and 25-21.
UC came out strong in the first game with a 10 point lead at one point during the set. State rallied back in the second set, keeping it close until 19-19, when UC pulled away. The third set started with State grabbing a strong lead, until Jordan Wittekind stepped in to close their lead, getting UC back in the game.The Golden Eagles were victorious with all around effort, with Mia Herrod leading with nine kills and three blocks. Shiann White was close behind her with eight kills, two blocks, and 16 digs. Randi Estrada added seven kills and five blocks. Wittekind made an impact with six kills and three aces.
The Yellow Jackets were led by Rebekah Baldwin with 11 kills and Edwina Barnett with six kills and three blocks.
The Golden Eagles will be playing at home on Friday, taking on Urbana at 7 PM at the Charleston Catholic Sports Complex.
