UC's Win Streak Ends at 10 After Losses in Wheeling

WHEELING, W.Va. - The University of Charleston's Women's Volleyball team lost Saturday morning to Wheeling Jesuit University. In their last conference match of the season, UC went out 0-3 to the first seed in the MEC conference. Wheeling took the first set easily with a 25-10 win.  The second set, UC fought back but ultimately lost 23-25.  The last set UC battled but lost 16-25.
 
Freshman Mia Herrod led for the Golden Eagles with 12 kills and 3 blocks. Shiann White earned 8 kills and led with 14 digs. Jordan Wittekind earned 3 blocks and 4 kills.
 
Wheeling was led by Maddy Smyth with 11 kills. Haley Kindall earned 9 kills while Kayce Krucki earned 8 kills.
 
UC also took on Cedarville in a non-conference match Saturday afternoon. The match went four head to head sets. UC lost the first set 22-25, but rallied back in the second to win 25-23. The third and fourth set both resulted in wins for Cedarville 26-24.
 
Shiann White led for the Golden Eagles with 14 kills, 4 aces, and 5 blocks. Mia Herrod was close behind with 13 kills and 2 blocks. Jordan Wittekind earned 7 kills and 3 blocks.
 
Krissy Pratt earned 19 kills and 3 blocks for Cedarville. Abby Shelton earned 16 kills and 3 aces and Alyssa Barkley earned 10 kills and 5 blocks.
 
UC will be traveling to Wheeling next weekend to participate in the MEC tournament.
