WHEELING, W.Va. - The University of Charleston's Women's Volleyball team took down West Liberty University in the quarterfinals of the conference tournament Thursday afternoon in the first match of the MEC Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship.
UC was the third seed entering the MEC Women's Volleyball Tournament Championship, while West Liberty earned the third seed. The match went four sets. UC took the first set 25-21. The second set, West Liberty started off strong and took the game 25-21. The next two sets were UC's with the scores 25-23 and 25-22.
Shiann White led the Golden Eagles with 17 kills. Randi Estrada, acknowledged as First Team All- Conference, earned 14 kills. Lastly, Payton Logan earned 12 kills.
West Liberty's Stephanie Leonard earned 13 kills and Sydney Scherer earned 11 kills.
UC will be taking on Fairmont State, the conference's second place regular season finisher, on Friday at 5:00 p.m. on the campus of Wheeling Jesuit. The Falcons advanced to the MEC Semifinals after defeating Urbana in four sets later Thursday afternoon.
