ELKINS, W.Va. - Charleston men's basketball won its fourth consecutive game Saturday defeating Davis & Elkins College, 93-78, at the McDonnell Center on the Senator campus.
UC was led by senior guard Tino diTrapano's game high 24 points on 9-for-11 shooting from the floor and hit four of Charleston's 13 three-pointers. Jevonte Hughes came off of the Golden Eagle bench to score 19 points in 22 minutes and completed a double-double with 11 rebounds. Travon Williams rounded out the double-figure scorers for UC adding 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
The Golden Eagles shot 51% from the floor and even better from behind the arc, connecting on 13 of 24 three-point attempts fro 54%. Charleston had assists on 26 of their 33 made baskets on the afternoon.
UC led big at the half, 50-33, and eventually grew that lead to 27 points midway through the second half before cruising to the 93-79 victory in Elkins.
The win improves the Golden Eagles record to 6-4 overall after a slow start to the 2015-16 season. Charleston doesn't return to the court until the new year when they host Wheeling Jesuit on January 4th at the Charleston Civic Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
