BUCKHANNON, W.Va. – After opening the game with a
Jevonte Hughes dunk and 2-0 lead the University of Charleston Men's Basketball team never led again. West Virginia Wesleyan used an 8-0 run to take the lead and never look back for a 56-53 victory.Â
Despite some last minute hick-ups the Bobcats were led by Chris Newberry and Tanner McGrew each in double-digit scoring performances on the night. McGrew capped his 11 points by grabbing 17 rebounds for WVWC. The win, just the Bobcats ninth on the season, moves them to 7-9 in Mountain East Conference play.Â
For the Golden Eagles
Chris Evans had a game high 17 points while shooting 50-percent from the field. Shooting struggles hampered any rhythm UC could put together as they shot 35-percent from the floor and just 25-percent from behind the arch.
Charleston falls to 15-7, 10-6 in the MEC on the season. The Golden Eagles are back in action Saturday as they host Glenville State University with the opening tip scheduled for 4pm.Â
