Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Balanced Attack Leads Charleston Over Glenville, 83-71

CHARLESOTN, W.Va. – Chris Evans (Stamford, CT), Jevonte Hughes (Kalamazoo, MI), and Tino DiTrapano (Charleston, WV) each had 16 points apiece in an 83-71, victory for the University of Charleston Men's Basketball team over Glenville State University, Saturday afternoon.

UC used an 8-0 run to start the game with back-to-back three's by DiTrapano and Cameron Dozier (Graceville, FL) followed by a lay-up by Hughes to start its rhythm.  Glenville sparked right back making its own 14-6 run to tie the score at 14.

Both team traded buckets and foul shots as they entered the under-five media timeout knotted at 36.  Charleston took advantage of missed front-ends of one-and-one opportunities by the Pioneers and stretched a 12-4 run and a 48-40 lead headed into the half.

The Golden Eagles came out to start the second half with the same intentions and created separation with a 5-0 run to start and a 13-point lead.  Vincent Dillard's (Sanford, FL) three-point basket with 13:33 left in the game stretched UC's lead to 16; it's largest of the game.  However, eight points by Glenville's Reggie Williams brought the lead to nine with just over eight and half minutes remaining.  The balanced attack was too much as the Golden Eagles had an answer for the Pioneers and closed out the game and capped off the 11-point victory.
Glenville who falls to 16-7 on the season, 13-4 in the Mountain East Conference was led by Williams whose game high of 23 points came on 9-18 shooting from the field. Sedric Nady finished with 11 points for the Pioneers.

Rounding off Charleston's offensive balanced production was Dilliard with 14 points and Dozier who finished the game with 10 points.  Evans finished with a career high eight assists and Hughes recorded his fifth double-double of the season grabbing 12 rebounds for UC. DiTrapano ended with five assists to help spread the production as the Golden Eagles finished with 20 assists on 29 made baskets.

UC now 16-7, 11-6 in the MEC, looks to continue and build momentum headed into a pivotal match-up December 12th, at Concord University in Athens, W.Va. with tip scheduled for 7:30pm.
