MOORESVILLE, N.C. – Charleston Baseball was finally able to get on the field and did so in impressive fashion, taking three out of four games against Mountain East opponent Fairmont State to open the 2015 season.Â
The  games initially scheduled to be played at Triana Field had to be moved to Moor Park in Mooresville, N.C. due to standing water on UC's field.Â
The Golden Eagle bats were hot in their first action of the season, pounding out 49 hits which led to 35 runs over the four game series. As a unit Charleston hit .386 with three players hitting over .500 in the four games against the Falcons.Â
Mike Hoeft led the way with eight hits in his 14 plate appearances, driving in five and scoring four runs. Newcomer
Tristan Fields was impressive in his UC debut bringing around eight Golden Eagles in three games played and senior
Tyler Hathaway got his final season off to a good start going 6-for-11 with four RBI's.
Charleston also got solid pitching performances from senior
Patrick Chiaramonte and junior
Tyler Shreve who each picked up complete game wins in their season debuts. Combined they gave up just five runs over their 14 innings pitched, three of those earned.Â
Dylan Saunders was on the mound for UC's third win of the series, working five plus innings in the victory to run his record to 1-0 on the young season.
The Golden Eagles get back on the field this weekend in another four game series at West Liberty University. Â
