Box Score CLERMONT, Fla. - The University of Charleston women's softball team defeated #7 West Chester University, 4-3 in an Atlantic Region match-up at Hancock Park in Clermont, Florida.  WCU is coming off an NCAA Division II World Series appearance having advanced through the Atlantic Region and Super Regional last season. 

Courtney Fain earned the victory in relief pitching two and two thirds innings, relieving Charleston starter Morgan Aguirre who left with a tie score at 2-2 in the fifth.  Cortney Norris blasted her fourth homerun of the season in the first inning giving UC the early 2-0 lead. 

WCU runs came when Erin Whitman took a two and two pitch and hit it over the right field fence to tie the score in the fifth. UC responded in the bottom of the inning with four hits plating two runs and a 4-2 lead. 

Fain moves to 4-1 on the season, while the Golden Eagles move to 9-2 overall. 

Charleston will stay in Florida as weather in Salem, Va. cancelled the Atlantic Region Challenge and will play Millersville and Kutztown on Friday at 5/7pm.
