Fain, Norris, and Williams Selected All-Region

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Courtney Fain, Cortney Norris, and Bethany Williams have been tabbed All-Atlantic Region selections for the 2015 season.  Fain and Norris were both Daktronics and NFCA 2nd-Team selections while Williams was selected to the NFCA 2nd-Team joining her teammates.  

The NFCA awards honor softball student-athletes from the Association's eight regions with first and second teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by NFCA member coaches from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2015 NFCA Division II All-American teams.

The Daktronics awards honor softball student-athletes from the CoSida organization's eight regions with first and second teams selected for each region. The all-region teams were voted on by CoSida members from each respective region, and all the honorees now become eligible for selection to the 2015 Daktronics Division II All-American teams.

Fain (Urbana, OH), a senior who finished with an overall record of 20-8 led the Mountain East Conference with 228 strikeouts in just 173 1/3 innings. Her .169 opposing team batting average also led the league.  

Norris (Fort Branch, IN), a junior who led Charleston in six offensive categories including BA .346, runs 34, hits 55, homeruns 10, slugging percentage .623, and total bases 99. She tied with fellow all-region selection Williams with 45 runs batted in to share the lead.

Williams (Cooper City, FL), a freshman who hit .333 for the Golden Eagles with 33 runs scored, nine homeruns, 92 total bases, while leading with 11 doubles on the season and tieing Norris with 45 runs batted in.

These selections mark the fourth, fifth, and sixth all-region selections for UC in the past four seasons.  In 2012 Emily Fultz and Janeen Vazquez were selected, while in 2014 Samantha Herndon was selected.
