WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles five-game win streak came to an end Thursday evening at the ASRC as Charleston dropped a 72-89 decision to the #8 ranked West Liberty University Hilltoppers.

West Liberty used strong perimeter shooting in the 17-point win, making exactly half of their three-point attempts, going 15-for-30 on the night. Charleston couldn't keep pace with the Toppers from the field, mainly from behind the arc as the Golden Eagles only hit on five of their 20 attempts from deep, proving to be the difference in the loss.Â

Things don't get any easier for the Golden Eagles (11-8, 8-5) as they stay north to take on the #5 ranked Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals (19-1, 12-1) on Saturday afternoon.Â

Charleston was led by Jevonte Hughes' 20 points and seven rebounds in the loss while Justin Coleman chipped in 12 points and nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles currently sit in a tie for 4
th place in the MEC with Concord with nine games left on the regular season schedule.
