CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston held off a tough W.Va. Wesleyan team and swept Malone University to claim their fourth victory in two days.
The wins improve the Golden Eagles to 13-8 overall and remain perfect in Mountain East play with a 4-0 mark.
UC squared off with the Bobcats in the first match of the afternoon as each of the teams traded punches in the five-set thriller. Charleston eventually came out on top by picking up the fifth set by a 15-10 score. Megan Mourier paced UC with a career-high 19 kills, hitting at a .400 clip in the process. Both Claire Lambert and Chloe Massaro set career marks in assists, while Alexis Tyree set career-highs in kills (7) and digs (15).
After taking a match break, UC faced off with Malone University and easily dismantled the Pioneers in three straight sets. Carly Granger posted a double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs with Shiann White chipping in seven kills and 16 digs.
UC returns to the court Tuesday evening to host their Kanawha Valley rival, W.Va. State University, at the CCHS Athletic Complex. First whistle is set for 7:00 p.m.
