CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston welcomed in their Kanawha Valley rival, West Virginia State University to the Charleston Catholic HS Athletic Complex on Tuesday evening for an MEC battle in women's volleyball. The Golden Eagles played one of the most dominating matches of the season, sweeping the Yellow Jackets in straight sets 25-14, 25-13, 25-6, to improve to 14-8 overall and remain unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play at 5-0.

It was the fifth consecutive match Charleston has come out on top of their opponent. The Golden Eagles forced the Jackets into a negative hitting percentage for the match at -.147 and came up with eight total blocks, senior middle Jordan Wittekind part of seven of those put backs at the net. UC, on the other hand, hit at .269 led by setter Claire Lambert's five attempts on five kills from her setter position.

Charleston returns to the court tomorrow evening in a non-conference match with King University with match set for 7:00 p.m.
