CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Golden Eagles defeated UVA-Wise 93-80 on Saturday evening in a Mountain East Conference matchup to stay unbeaten to begin the 2016-17 campaign.

The Golden Eagles extend their winning streak to three games and improve their overall record to 3-0 (1-0 MEC) while UVA-Wise falls to 1-3 overall (0-1 MEC).

Justin Coleman recorded his second double-double of the season with 16 points and 17 boards. Shaq Speights led all scorers with 24 points (8-16 FG). Elliot Cole tallied 17 points while LeJavius Johnson finished the night with 12 points. Keir Anderson and Jonathan Joseph both finished the night with 10 points.

UC finished the contest with a 58.6 shooting percentage (16-27) and forced the Cavaliers to seven turnovers. Charleston shot 17-20 from the charity stripe and outrebounded UVA-Wise 44-26.

The Golden Eagles return to action against Concord on Monday, November 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Charleston Catholic Athletic Facility.Â
