CHARLESTON, W.Va. - The Golden Eagles (6-11, 2-2 MEC) swept the visiting Urbana Blue Knights with a walk off 4-3 win and a nail biting 11-10 win in the nightcap.Â

Behind a complete game effort by senior
Anthony Brunetti (7IP, 6H, 3K) and late inning offensive heroics, the Golden Eagles claimed their first MEC conference win of 2016.

UC would get on the board first in the 2nd when junior Logan Valentine plated senior
Zach Gunter. Â Single Urbana runs in the 3rd and 4th gave the Blue Knights the lead until Freshman
Gianfranco Morello's triple would bring Freshman

With the Golden Eagles down 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th, pinch hitter sophomore
Justin Mixon drew a walk to lead off the inning and would later be brought around on a Brunetti single. Freshman
Jeff Somuk scored the game winner off the bat of Gunter to complete the come from behind win.Â

Andy Hoyer threw six innings (4R, 3ER, 11H, 2K) to earn his 3rd win of the season.Â

The Golden Eagles took an 11-4 lead into the 7th and would quickly see the Blue Knights cut the lead to 11-8 before adding single runs in the 8th and 9th. Â

Tyler Shreve came on in relief of
David Webb with the bases loaded and would proceed to earn the save with a fly out and two strikeouts to claim the 11-10 win.Â

Offensively, the Golden Eagles pounded out 12 hits while stealing bases and drawing six walks.Â

UC heads back on the road Friday to face Fairmont State University at the Bridgeport Recreation Center and will travel to Shepherd University on Saturday to face the Rams. Both doubleheaders start at 1pm.Â
