Baseball Drops DH in Cross Divisional Matchup

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va.-The Golden Eagles dropped both ends of a double header to northern division Rams Saturday afternoon.
 
Game 1-Shepherd 4, UC 1
 
The Golden Eagles were unable to produce the big hit early in the 7 inning contest as UC stranded 5 runners en route to a 4-1 loss.  
 
Senior pitcher Tyler Shreve struck out eight Shepherd hitters over six innings of work.  
 
Seniors Anthony Brunetti and Tyler Ocker doubled while redshirt freshman Gianfranco Morello drove in the lone UC run with a double of his own.  
 
Game 2-Shepherd 13, UC 5
 
UC jumped out to a 5-2 lead in the 4th after Tristan Fields launched a solo home run to left along with Will Lucas' two-out, two-strike, two-run double. 
 
The lead was short lived as the Rams would answer with 7 runs of their own in the bottom of the 4th.  
 
The pitching trio of Anthony Brunetti, Kaleb Kinder and David Webb surrendered 13 runs on 11 Ram hits while striking out three.  
 
Jeff Somuk and Justin Mixon each went 2-5 for the Golden Eagles. 
 
 
UC returns to action against Alderson Broaddus on Tuesday, March 29th at 3 pm to finish a suspended game from March 4th and will play an additional seven inning game upon the completion of the suspended game.  
 
The Golden Eagles move to 7-14 (3-5 MEC) and currently sit in 4th place in the Southern Division.
