Charleston, W.Va. –The University of Charleston's Women's Lacrosse team fell to Kutztown University in an 18-4 decision. The Golden Eagles hosted the PSAC Kutztown Women's Lacrosse team this past Sunday at the University of Charleston Stadium.

The Golden Eagles had a slow start in the first half, only converting 3 of their eight shots on goal. The Kutztown Golden Bears began the first half strong, leading the Golden Eagles 9-3 to end the first. The Golden Bears' Lauren Schmidt led the way with her 6 goal performance.

The Golden Eagles scored just 1 goal in the second half as the Golden Bears added another 9 goals to end the game. UC freshman Amelia Ramos (Cleveland Heights, OH) led the team with her 2 goal performance, while freshman Aryanna Jones (Shaker Heights, OH) and junior captain Nicole Purcell (Cortland, NY) both added a goal apiece.

"This is certainly not the outcome we had expected," said Coach Tiffany Smith after the game. "We are still working out the kinks and striving to improve every day. The remarkable thing about these young ladies is that they are still able to come out every single day and compete with the programs we face. It is certainly no easy feat, however, these young ladies fight until the last whistle, and that is something to be proud of."

The Golden Eagles (1-3-0), are back at home and will host Walsh University Wednesday, March 9 at 5pm.
