Charleston, W.Va. –The University of Charleston Women's Lacrosse Team dropped their third conference match to Urbana University with a 12-8 decision. The Blue Knights picked up their first conference win with their victory over the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles, now 1-8-0, hosted the conference rival Blue Knights April 10th for a 2pm start time.
The Golden Eagles looked for their first conference win in Sunday's match. However, penalties derailed the Golden Eagles in their pursuit of victory. The Blue Knights led the Golden Eagles at half with a score of 7-5. The Golden Eagles would not take trailing lightly.
Amelia Ramos (Cleveland Heights, OH) had a career and team high of three goals.
Peyton Harris (Lockport, NY) and
Nicole Purcell (Cortland, NY) would both add two goals apiece, while
Aryanna Jones (Shaker Heights, OH) would add one.
"Our experiences are often the best teachers for us", said Coach Smith. "I think the yellow cards and fouls were really detrimental to our game today. We certainly did not play well, and I have to give it to Urbana for capitalizing on our mistakes. We unfortunately were just unable to close this one out."
The Golden Eagles (1-8-0), will hit the road for back-to-back conference matches against West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling Jesuit. First up for the Golden Eagles is West Virginia Wesleyan. The Golden Eagles travel to Buckhannon, WV for a noon start time 4.15.16.
