CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Charleston split a 4-game weekend series with the visiting UVa.-Wise Cavaliers at Triana Field, picking up a win each of the two days. Â
GAME 1: UVa.-Wise 5-UC 3Â
After jumping out to a 2-run lead in the 3
rd, the Golden Eagles could not survive a 3-run Cavalier 5
th and would go on to drop game one 5-3.

Sophomore Kaleb Kinder turned in yet another quality start and held the Wise offense to three runs (1 earned) while scattering eight hits over six innings. The Golden Eagle offense was led by Anthony Brunetti who went 3-3 on the day with a walk and three RBI. Brice Arrington and Zach Gunter each collected two hits, as well.

GAME 2: UC 7-UVa.-Wise 1
Junior LHP Adam Jafine struck out 11 and surrendered five hits while shutting the Cavalier offense out for seven innings. Freshman Harrison Bell and Jack Brunetti each threw an inning in relief for the Golden Eagles.

UC's offense jumped out to 7-0 lead after the 4
th and cruised to a 7-1 win. Offensively, Brice Arrington, Jeff Somuk and Anthony Brunetti, accounted for seven of the Golden Eagle hits and six runs. Zach Gunter, Tyler Ocker, Will Lucas, and Gianfranco Morello each collected a hit apiece.

GAME 3: UC 7-UVa.-Wise 6
UC once again took an early lead on runs in the 1
st and 2
nd.  The Cavalier offense would respond with a total of six runs from the 4
th through the 6
th to take a 6-2 lead.Â

In the bottom of the 6
th, the Golden Eagle offense worked three consecutive walks to load the bases for freshman OF Austin Hathaway, who delivered a 1-1 offering into the left-center gap for a bases clearing double. Hathaway would later score on an Arrington single and pinch runner Jeremy Tejada scored on a Jeff Somuk single.

Luke Yingling, in relief of starter Anthony Brunetti, collected the last five outs for the win.

GAME 4: UVa.-Wise 10-UC 3
Save for a flash of offense in the 8
th inning the Cavaliers proved to be too much for the Golden Eagles in the final game of the 4-game series.

UC's defense surrendered six errors, while the offense was held to only two hits before the 8
th inning.Â
Tyler Shreve pitched 6+ innings surrendering seven runs (four earned) on 10 hits, while striking out four. Andy Hoyer threw three innings in relief, giving up three hits and three runs (two earned), while striking out one.

The Golden Eagles are back in action this weekend against Southern Division foe Concord University.
