ÂBRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – Charleston pounded out 14 hits to score 11 runs in an 11-6 victory over Fairmont State University Wednesday evening at the Bridgeport Recreation Complex.
Â
The Golden Eagles got multiple hit games from Anthony Brunetti, Nick Wilson, Tyler Ocker and Austin Hathaway with Wilson and Zach Gunter each driving in two runs. UC was aggressive on the base paths, swiping eight stolen bases on nine attempts. Brunetti continues to have a strong 2016 campaign, going 2-for-5 and scoring three runs.
Â
Charleston used a quintet of pitchers, led by Tyler Shreve who threw three scoreless innings without surrendering a hit. Will Bohlman finished the game by pitching the final three frames, allowing just one unearned run to pick up the save.
Â
The win gives Charleston its ninth victory of the season while the Falcons fall to 13-16 on the year. UC returns to the field this weekend to host West Virginia Wesleyan with games tentatively scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at Appalachian Power Park. With poor weather in the forecast for Saturday, games may be pushed to Sunday and Monday, more details to follow as they become available.
