Men's Golf Takes Fifth at Mercyhurst Invitational

Erie, Pa. - The University of Charleston Men's Golf team headed to Mercyhurst University for two rounds at the Mercyhurst Invitational. Charleston ended day one in fourth place, and eventually dropped another spot to finish the tournament fifth of sixteen participating teams with a total score of 616. Host Mercyhurst took first place (599), with Millersville University (605) in second, West Chester University in third (606) and Roberts Wesleyan in fourth (607).

Charleston's Lewis Fenn led the team, tying for ninth place overall with a combined score of 151, shooting a 73 on day one and a 78 on day two. Justin Westveer shot a 153, tying for fourteenth, and Cody Kotva and Brett Harvey both shot a 156, tying each other for 27th. Viktor Pustwo came in at 39th with a score of 161.

First place individually was shared by Millersville's Connor Sheehan and Rodney Anders and Clarion's Loren Dukate, who all shot a 146 to tie for first. Mercyhurst's Chris Kupniewski and Roberts Wesleyan's Thomas Kolb both finished a point behind the leaders, tying for fourth place with a score of 147.

The University of Charleston heads to the MEC Fall Classic for some conference play at Williams Country Club in Wierton, W.Va. October 1st-3rd.
