CHARLESTON, W.Va. – University of Charleston women's volleyball ran into a tough Cedarville University team Tuesday night at the CCHS Athletic Complex, eventually falling to the visiting Yellow Jackets in four sets to stop the Golden Eagle five match win streak.
UC fell behind two sets before coming alive in the third to easily win the set, 25-14, and carried the momentum into the fourth. The Golden Eagles jumped out to an 18-7 lead and looked like the match would be heading to a deciding fifth set. The Yellow Jackets rallied by winning 18 of the next 21 points to close out the set and the match, 25-21.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Shiann White's 13 kills and four blocks while
Carly Granger chipped in 10 kills and 14 digs for a double-double.
Claire Lambert led UC in assists with 23 followed by
Amy Hu's 13 off of the bench.
UC (9-8, 2-0) returns to the court Friday afternoon and evening to host Glenville State College in conference play then capping off the night with a non-conference match against Alderson Broaddus. Play will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the Charleston Catholic HS Athletic Complex.
