CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Charleston men's volleyball won their third straight match Saturday afternoon at the H. Bernard Wehrle Sr. Athletic Arena, defeating Lees-McRae in straight sets by scores of 27-25, 25-22, 25-18.
Â
The Golden Eagles have bested the Bobcats twice in their current win streak, taking a five-set decision at Lees-McRae last Saturday. This time around Charleston dig themselves a two-set hole, instead dispatched the visitors in convincing fashion.
Â
UC did find themselves down early in Saturday's match, trailing the Bobcats 7-3 after the first 10 points but played their way back in after winning eight of the next nine points to take an 11-8 lead. The teams exchanged alternating points for the remainder of the match and UC faced two-set points but both times were able to avoid dropping the set. Tied at 25-25, Charleston got a huge service ace from Rajahl Moxey to give them set-point which they converted as Eugene Stuart and Anthony Rivera teamed up for a block on the Bobcat attack.
Â
It was another closely played set in the second, but the Golden Eagles made more plays than the Bobcats down the stretch. With the set deadlocked at 20-20, Charleston went on to score five of the next seven points, highlighted by a pair of kills from Moxey and again Stuart providing the set clinching block for a 25-22 set victory.
Â
The deflated Bobcats didn't put up much fight in the third set as UC cruised to a 25-18 victory to seal the match in three sets. Ryan Santos played his best set for the Golden Eagles, totaling four kills while libero Darrin DePellegrini came up with eight digs.

Charleston gets back in action Friday evening to host McKendree University. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m in the H. Bernard Wehrle Sr. Athletic Arena.
