ROANOKE, W.Va. – University of Charleston men's golf finished as runner-up at the MEC Fall Invitational late Tuesday evening at the Stonewall Resort.

The Golden Eagles entered the 2
nd round of the two-day event hosted by West Virginia Wesleyan College in 3
rd place, trailing Shepherd University and eventual champion West Liberty University. UC put together the best round of the day on Tuesday, turning in a 316 but fell one stroke behind the Hilltoppers after the two rounds.

Charleston placed three players inside of the top-10, led by
Justin Westveer's (+14) 5
th place finish after shooting consecutive 79's on Monday and Tuesday. Fellow senior
Lewis Fenn was one stroke behind Westveer, finishing in 7
th place followed by
Ritwik Jain, who shot a 76 Tuesday to move into the top-10 with a 9
th place finish.

UC has a short turnaround to prepare for the MEC Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs. Charleston and the rest of the Mountain East will take on the Cobb Course in Daniels, W.Va. from October 9
th to October 11
th.Â
