Ritwik Jain is tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the MEC Men's Golf Championship at The Resort at Glade Springs with the Golden Eagles holding a six-stroke advantage over Shepherd University.

Jain posted a 1-under, 71 which puts him in a tie with Concord's Brett Laxton. Just one stroke back of Jain is UC senior
Lewis Fenn who shot an even-par 72 on the Cobb Course at The Resort at Glade Springs. Joining Jain and Fenn in the top-10 is sophomore
David Scragg, currently tied for 8
th overall after shooting a 3-over, 75.Â

The Golden Eagle men's team shot a first-round 9-over, 297 to take a six-shot lead into Tuesday's second round. Sitting behind Charleston is Shepherd (+15) followed by West Liberty (+20) and tied for fourth is West Virginia Wesleyan and Concord (+22)

Play resumes tomorrow on the Cobb Course with the Golden Eagles teeing off at 12:00 p.m.
