Powell, Golden Eagles Make Quick Work of Cavaliers

WISE, Va. – Charleston women's volleyball claimed a 3-0 victory over University of Virginia College at Wise on Friday evening, paced by Jour'Ney Powell's season best performance for the Golden Eagles.

How it Happened
Riding a three-match win streak, Charleston visited the Cavaliers Friday evening looking for their fourth straight and momentum heading into next week's MEC Volleyball Championship.  The Golden Eagles didn't disappoint, easily winning the match in straight sets against the host UVa.-Wise. 
 
UC dominated the Cavaliers in every statistical category, led by middle blocker Jour'Ney Powell's best performance of the season.  The junior tallied a season-high 11 kills on .667 hitting percentage, committing just one error on 15 attempts.  Powell also helped control the Cavalier attack, coming up with four blocks on the defensive side of the net.
 
With UC's win and losses by Urbana and Shepherd moves into sole possession of 2nd place in the Mountain East Conference heading into Saturday's regular season finale.
