CHARLESTON, W.VA -- The University of Charleston Men's Basketball team (14-12, 8-12 MEC) came up short against No. 2 Fairmont State University (25-1, 19-1 MEC) on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mid way through the first half UC maintained a one possession lead over the Fighting Falcons, until Fairmont's Thomas Wimbush hit a three to bring the score to 16-15. Elliot Cole knocked down a shot from deep to give the lead back to Charleston.
- Fairmont tied the game up on the next possession. Elliot Cole gave Charleston the lead one more time at 9:31. After a pair of free throws by Vonte Montgomery the score was tied at 20-20. A dunk and a three ball during back-to-back possessions gave Fairmont a five point lead with just over 9 minutes to go. Fairmont built a sizeable advantage during the closing minutes of the first half sending Charleston to the locker down 41-52.
- Fairmont maintained their lead through most of the second half until a three by senior Justin Coleman cut the Falcon lead to 80-83. Charleston fought through the final minutes of the second half a pair of free throws by Jason Jolly put the Falcons up by 7 with 15 seconds to go.
- Time would expired with the Falcons leading Charleston 92-86
GOLDEN EAGLES LEADERS
- Senior Elliot Cole shot 52.6 percent on senior day for 29 points.
- Senior Justin Coleman tallied 15 points and led the team in rebounds with 8.
- Red-Junior Jaylen Hinton notched 10 points and 2 assists.
FIGHTING FALCONS LEADERS
- Senior Matt Bingaya led Fairmont State with with 21 points.
- Sophomore Vonte Montgomery came was second to his teammate with 17 points.
STAT CHECK
- Charleston out rebounded the Fighting Falcons 29-24.
- Charleston shot 51.7 percent from the field.
- Fairmont State outscored the Golden Eagles 25-12 off of turn overs.
