CHARLESTON, W.Va.--Â Golden Eagle Men's Tennis opened their dual match schedule Friday evening with the Atlantic Region No. 1 ranked team Bluefield State, falling to the Blues 8-1.
Charleston fell behind early to the No. 41 nationally ranked Blues, dropping all three doubles matches despite a solid effort from Alec Foote and Ben Lakeman at No. 2 doubles, losing a tight 8-6 match.
The singles matches were all highly entertaining as some of the best tennis in the region was on display at the Charleston Family YMCA. Four of the six singles matches went beyond two sets, but only Foote was able to come out on top to claim Charleston's only point on the night. Lakeman, Dom Centofanti and Jamie Gibson all went the distance only to find themselves on the losing end of the three-set matches.
The Golden Eagles return to the court Saturday afternoon to take on Cedarville University. Â First serve is set for 4:00 p.m. at the Charleston Family YMCA.
